Nobody is playing Netflix games – but why?
So far 2022 is difficult for Netflix. The streaming giant must compete with many unexpected problems in recent months – and, based on new data about the gaming division, things will not improve in the near future.
According to Apptopia, an application analysis company, less than one percent of the Global Netflix fanbase currently plays one or more games (per CNBC (opened in the new tab)). Presented in far more striking terms, only 1.7 million customers played video games on Netflix since the game section was officially launched in November 2021.
Netflix can be supported by the fact that 23.3 million people have downloaded at least one of their gaming titles in the last nine months – the figure that forms more than 10 percent of its customer base. However, as soon as fans install games on their devices, very few really take it and play it.
So, what gives? Why do Netflix struggle to convince you and many others to really play the game? Not surprisingly, there are several reasons behind Netflix’s inability to persuade their customers to try the video game selection.
The first reason – and perhaps the most obvious – is related to where the Netflix game is available. According to the Streamer help website itself (opened in the new tab), users can only play their gaming titles on compatible mobile devices. That means you can only download and play games on the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch (run iOS 15 or more newly), as well as Android phones or tablets (run Android 8.0 or newer).
The problem for Netflix is that most of the customers use the Streamer application on their TV. According to data sourced from online finance (open in the new tab), 70 percent of the Netflix user base flows its content through their television devices. Compare with only 10 percent of users who drain the best Netflix films and the best Netflix events through their cellphones, and it is clear why Netflix struggles to make people play the game. Simply put: They are not available where most customers access content on Netflix.
In addition, the Netflix game division does not have a rear catalog to attract – and, more importantly, maintain – users who try their basic titles. At present, there are 26 titles available on Netflix Games but, while some of them are fun to play, there is no game that can be defined as “having to play”.
Of course, there are some that stand out among the numbers. Stranger Things 1984 and the title of his sister Stranger Things 3: This game is a gaming game for the Netflix TV series which is very popular, which will get the fifth and last season around 2024. Meanwhile, into violations are a fantastic turn to be a fantastic turn of the game Strategy, and POINTS is one of the classic mobile games that will undermine your free time.
Unfortunately for Netflix, he cannot offer the same AAA titles as Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, and other game developers on the switch, Xbox Series, Playstation 5, and game streaming services such as Amazon Luna. At present, Netflix cannot compete with the established elite.
Of course, he has an ambitious plan to do it. Netflix wants to double the number of games in his library at the end of 2022 (per Washington Post (opened in the new tab)), which will include the title based on its original programming, such as gamble and shadows and the bone of the queen. It also gained three studios to start expansion to the gaming sector, as well as employing main industrial figures, such as former Riot Games Director Leanne Loombe and EA Executive Mike Vrdu, to lead the game division.
Without the Blockbuster title among its elections – which is still for many years because Netflix finds out what users want from the gaming platform (per variety (opened in the new tab)) – Although, Netflix cannot take the biggest game developer and publishing studio in the world.
