Everybody owns a two-wheeler nowadays. It has become a necessity. One needs a conveyance to go from one place to another. Everyone has a soft spot for their two-wheeler, whether it is new or old. If one is not in a position to buy a new one, he can opt for a second-hand one to fulfill his dream. It makes travelling easy and fun as one is not required to walk a long distance from one point to the other. They had added fastness to life. If someone has a low budget, they should opt for a second-hand 2-wheeler. However, before purchasing it, one must conduct some preliminary research, such as a documentation check, a test drive to determine whether it is in proper working order, a service record, and any other information pertinent to it, to avoid any future inconvenience. A person has to make a huge amount of investment in it, so this information is necessary to know that it is worth the value that the person is paying for it. Here are a few pointers to keep in mind when purchasing a used two-wheeler:

1) Taking a test drive: Before purchasing a vehicle, it is necessary to take a test drive. 2. A test ride will let you know the condition of the bike and how its parts are working. If there is any fault, you can immediately tell the owner regarding the same. If you know the vehicle properly, 4 to 5 minutes of the ride will be enough for you to know the fault in it. If you do not have full knowledge of it, you can take a mechanic with you who can ride it and let you know about the same. Taking a test drive is an important way to know whether it is working smoothly or not. If you find it difficult to drive or it is not moving smoothly, you should not buy it and look for another selling second-hand bike in good condition.

2) Researching it: Before purchasing a bike, one must conduct extensive research, including the availability of the dealer, the price they are offering, the age of the bike, and so on. The bikes will be offered at different prices by different dealers. One can rely on other options as well, like buying them from a friend or relative. Nowadays, online platforms that sell second-hand two-wheelers are fully trusted. The price of the two-wheeler must be compared with its age and condition. So, all this research work should be done by the purchaser.

3) Examining the chassis number: When looking to buy a vehicle, look for the chassis number. The chassis number should be the same on the plate as on the engine. It might be difficult to locate it, especially on an older vehicle. One can use the help of a mechanic to find this number. This number should also be the same on the registration certificate.

5) Service history: It is critical to understand the vehicle’s service history. It will help you to give an overview of how much maintenance has been done and how much more is needed. If there is no proof or written record of the same, you can ask for the overall estimate. If you do not know the service amount of the vehicle, it will add to your cost.

6) Documentation: It is critical to ensure that the vehicle’s documentation is correct and up to date. If any piece of paper is lacking, it will create a problem for you while driving, as you can get caught by the police and heavy fines can be imposed on you. Vehicles contain various kinds of forms like registration certificates, pollution paper, insurance, RTO forms, etc. The vehicle should contain all of them so one can drive it without any problems.

6) Inspecting your bike: It is necessary to inspect your bike if it has any dents, scratches, leaking oil from the engine, poor engine efficiency, or any other type of fault. This should be done before offering the purchase price for the vehicle because afterwards, this will not be taken into consideration by the owner. You will have to pay the price on which you agreed earlier. So, this inspection must be done as earlier as possible.

7) Making an offer and negotiating the price: After inspecting all the dents and scratches, offer a purchase price. One must try to negotiate the price as much as one can. If there is any fault or any type of dent in the vehicle, one must offer less for the same. When you go for resale, you will be offered a lower price for your vehicle because of the dent, so it is an important aspect when buying a second-hand vehicle.

There are various points that one must keep in mind before buying a second-hand two-wheeler because they may contain various defaults that one may not know about. So, proper research and gathering of information related to it are very important because, after making a purchase, it cannot be returned. If these defaults are caught up at a later stage, one can do nothing about it, and it will add cost to the person purchasing it in the form of repairs. One must compare the vehicles offered by different dealers and the prices they are offering according to quality. A person should invest time in this comparison because they have to invest a lot of money in it. Many bike shops sell second-hand vehicles. If one wants, one can also purchase it on various online platforms because various online platforms are making it available and many showroom owners have their websites online offering these services.
