Varun Alagh, born in 1984 in Gurgaon, Haryana, hails from a family where his father owns a printing factory, while his mother is employed at the Bank of Baroda. Information regarding Varun’s siblings remains undisclosed.

In 2010, Varun was promoted to the position of Area Sales & Customer Manager in Delhi, serving for a duration of 9 months. In 2011, he transitioned to the role of Regional Brand Manager of Innovations-South Asia.
In 2012, Varun resigned from Hindustan Unilever Limited and joined Smirnoff as their Senior Brand Manager for a year. Following this, he joined Coca-Cola as its Brand Manager, later earning a promotion to Senior Brand Manager in 2016.
The Genesis of MamaEarth:
The birth of their son, Agasthya, revealed that he suffered from Eczema, a skin disease, due to sensitivity to toxins. This propelled Varun and his spouse, Ghazal Alagh, to source non-toxic skincare products from abroad through relatives and friends. Faced with the hassle of this process, Varun began crafting skincare products at home, leading to the inception of Honasa Consumer Pvt. Limited (MamaEarth).
In the fiscal year 2017, the company recorded revenue of INR 22.19 lakhs. Subsequently, in the following two fiscal years, MamaEarth’s revenue surged to INR 112 Crore and INR 500 Crores, respectively.
